Squat bulbous vase of soft-paste porcelain with spreading lip, scroll foot and rococo scrollwork handles, all picked out in gold (7.2 cm high, 7.4 cm diameter, 9.9 cm across handles). The sides are moulded with rococo cartouches picked out in gold and painted with exotic birds on branches, and the foot is painted in pinkish purple enamel. The vessel is pierced through from interior to base. The lead glaze is green tinted and very thick and has been ground away at the base. Mark: an anchor in gold painted inside base. The base has a paper label inscribed '120' (stock number of the dealer Charles E. Boast of Hove).
