The full text of the entry is as follows: “PHILLIPS, George (worked second quarter of 19th century) ‘Architectural Ornament of all Nations, exemplified in a Series of Original Designs displaying the characteristic features of every Class of Decorative Enrichment’. Title-page (using the design of the third plate) and plates (47), published by Shaw & Sons, London, c.1839. Bound in marbled paper, cloth spine. Lettered on the label on the cover with title etc. in gold. Lettered on the title-page with title etc. Each plate lettered with title, publisher’s name and address and, variously G. Ph.del., G.Ph.desig. Shaw & Sons sculp. Engravings. E.158-205-1964 Given by Mrs. K.D. Barlow Note:These plates were used as the illustrations to Rudiments of Curvilinear Design by George Phillips. This volume, on paper watermarked 1839, was issued by the same publishers, with a letterpress title-page and a pictorial half-title which differs from all the plates.”
