physical_description
Painted in a shaped cartouche framed by black and gilt scrollwork on both the cup and the saucer is a design of classical figures in a landscape, copied from a European print. A woman dressed in flowing robes and carrying a basket of flowers is in conversation with an older woman who leans on a low wall; a naked child reclines at their feet. Borders with four floral cartouches set ina lozenge diaper ground executed in black and gold encircle the inside of the cup and saucer below the rim. [Cup] The cup has not handle; on the reverse side is a floral spray.
