physical_description
A flat, fibre, sewn sandal. Round toe and round heel. Straps missing. Made of horizontal, transverse bundles of reed or halfa grass, sewn with strips of palm leaf. Perimeter of sole lined with edge at right angles to sole’s fabric. Triple edged perimeter – widths of 5mm / 10mm / 8mm. Main transverse bundles average 1.5cm wide. Treadsole: Swayed Right. Crown sinnet remains. Dirt of crown sinnet and on tread. Evidence of wear at tread and seat. Two modern labels remain – one mostly ripped off. Insole: Very end of toe strap and medial back strap remain in place. Hole where lateral back strap would be attached. The sandal is broken at the medial waist.
