Carolein Smit is among the most original, intriguing and thought-provoking artists working in clay. Her work has been shown by Galerie Terra Delft every year since 2004, and has excited considerable interest on each occasion. Carolein Smit satirically plays with that unknown turning point when beauty turns over in exuberance. Smit borrows themes from classic mythology and biblical tales, such as greed, power and impotence, vanity and death.
