Inger Rokkjaer is a senior figure in Danish ceamics. She as one fo the first Danish potters to explore the use of the raku firing technique, and describes it as "a cultural encounter - a confrontation between the simple Jutlandish [earhtenware pottery] and the refined Japenese". This white lidded raku box exemplifies the best of her work, and exhibits features characteristic of the technique.
