The Gaullist government formed the CDR (Committee for the Defence of the Republic) in the Summer of 1968. Part of its activites involved appealing the public to serve as political informants. This poster equates the government's calls for "civic action" with underhanded, Fascist tactics. The government and its policies are embodied as an overgrown rat.
