Aware was a première of modern Chinese dance and music that took place in Berlin. In designing the Chinese character for the title, Liu Zhizhi vertically divided the character into three parts, replacing the top parts of the character's strokes with three letters to read Jue. By mixing the Chinese character with alphabetic script, Liu helps non-Chinese speakers to read the Chinese word. [2009]
